The tinfoil hats will have a field day "Yet another way that Uncle Sam's trying to get our finger prints!!!"

Not sure why they're bothering with this - going to be problematic and never well adopted.
Edit: I'm reminded how often the bar code scanner that's built into the scale at self checkout fails as it's too gunky due to residue from other people touching the glass...

On the plus side, the homeless will have a reason to saw off rich peoples' hands now. :) Whole Foods will be putting security guards outside their stores to make sure people make it safely to their cars. :D

Whole Foods' soon departing CEO John Mackey has been running his mouth again lately about "socialists taking everything over".

Probably annoyed that his company will have to start paying some actual corporate income tax in near future. Funny for him always to forget the political leanings of his own customer base though when he gets into one of his libertarian rants.

This time he even suggested that socialists have taken over the US Military. Hah, he must be pissed off that Milley sic'd US forces on the insurrectionists at the Capitol? And also, he must not have heard about the political leanings of some of the right-leaning military or vets who were busting windows and generally getting themselves into deep trouble at that event.

Well bye John. Way to exit the biz spotlight. He said that and more in an interview for Reason magazine per a NY post piece.

Mackey promised that the interview was only a teaser of what was to come, saying that his role leading such a giant corporation left him “intimidated enough to shut up.”

“Pretty soon, you’re gonna hear about ‘Crazy John’ who’s no longer muzzled,” he said, laughing when asked if his main future plan was to embarrass the company he spent 44 years growing.

“I’ve got six weeks. I can talk more about politics in six weeks than I can today,” he told Reason’s editor at large, Nick Gillespie.

Well that should be interesting... but imma take a hard pass.

I went yesterday to my local WF and right outside the front door was a placard stand thing advertising the palm print payment to come, along with brochures about it. I walked right on past.

There are certain items I can only get at WF so I shop the sales and use my Amazon Prime membership for even further discounts. Plus I like their policies regarding meat and seafood and who they will carry or not. I've been surprised how much I've saved using the weekly sales/Prime route.

But overall grocery and restaurant prices have become absolutely ridiculous. Even a car wash in my area is now averaging around $25 that used to be $11 or $12.

There's no Whole Foods around here, even the closest Wegmans is about 60 miles away. I used to pick up one or two particular versions of Progresso canned soups at a supermarket for the winter pantry. Always waited for the 10/$10 sales on those soups. That was when the soups usually ran to $1.59. Now regular price is north of $3. Not holding my breath for those sales any more. I've gone back to doubling my own soup recipes whenever I happen to haul one out, and then freezing half of it for nights when I feel lazy upon walking into the kitchen.

Even raw ingredient prices do raise one's eyebrows now (and i imagine wholesale cost to Progresso et al is up too). So it's hard to tell what's about the higher labor cost, what's a response to higher supplier prices, and then what's a convenient profit margin jack under cover of "hey it's inflation, everything costs more, get over it."

I'm not keen to see what the hell a red bell pepper is going to cost me in February. I hate dehydrated veggies, so I'll be stuck with it, whatever it costs. I'll change my recipe titles. Stir Fried Gold Plated Red Bell Peppers and Broccoli on Hokkien Noodles.

Went in last week for the first time in 2 years and they wanted $9 for a bowl of soup, inflation or not it was outrageous.

Yeah, you sent me a pic, I think it was totally worth $9 ...

Not sure I like this idea. Feels a tad creepy. What do you think?

There are more details about it on Amazon's website.

I used Amazon One at one of their convenience stores while I was on a business trip. It was definitely creepy, but very innovative.

On the other hand, if you search for "Amazon One" on YouTube, you'll find comments like this...

Right? Or come up with some alternatives to Mark of the Beast ...

Signature of Satan
Autograph of the Evil One
Tag of Lucifer
Notarization of Beelzebub
etc.
