why this rule exists is somewhat perplexing


The student from Victoria arrived in Honolulu to learn that his itinerary was prohibited: travelers entering the US and then continuing on may only be bound for a country that does not border the US. He was going to Mexico. The man was detained, strip-searched and held in a federal prison for more than a day before being sent back to Australia.

I wonder how he booked the flights? If you do it all on one site, like Delta or Expedia for example, it’d be nice if there’s an auto warning telling you your itinerary has a legal issue.

Either way, fucked up, I don’t get it.
