First dog Champ dies 'peacefully at home,' president and first lady say

The Bidens got Champ as a puppy in 2008, shortly before they moved into the vice president's official residence at the Naval Observatory.

Nice-looking fella. I had no idea Champ was older.

It's touch losing a family member like a dog. I had to put my first dog down in November 2019 (7 year old Chihuahua) and I still think about her every day.

I deleted a line because it seemed tacky for a lead-off post. What I had said (and deleted) was, he choked like a Trump. Still tacky, but it’s not a shot at Champ or Biden.

Aw, this is…sadly cute.

Not surprisingly, Champ had been slowing down recently.

Soon after inauguration, when Champ and Major were brought from the Biden home in Delaware to the White House, pictures posted on social media and captured by photographers showed them gamboling on the South Lawn.

Well, Major gamboled. Champ mostly limped to a sunny spot, sat down and watched Major race around.

All good dogs go to heaven, and Champ Biden, who died Saturday at age 13, was a good dog.

President Biden shared a common interest with our shepherds. Mine is 4 y/o and I inherited from a nice lady who had a terminal illness, she passed away recently. Rest in peace Champ.
