Electric utility company unaware of what a common work schedule is

Over the last couple months I’ve gotten emails from our local utility company that might as well say…

Hi. We’ve noticed that you use hardly any power Monday – Friday, 7 AM – 6 PM. That’s just weird. We can’t imagine why that might be. You’re really missing out on a money saving opportunity and we recommend you try to be home and just start powering things up like crazy during those hours because that’s when we’re running lower rates. It actually appears you are running more power outside those hours!! Maybe you were unaware we have higher rates during the exact hours you seem to be using more power. lol. Anyhow, just thought we’d help you out here with some excellent customer service so you can make some adjustments and start saving!

Here it‘s mostly the opposite. The power companies want people to use more power outside of work hours and less during.

Basically they want the power consumption to be as consistent as possible throughout the day. Peaks are expensive and complicated for them.
