I’ll apologize in advance...but if you want to know how I really feel.
I just listened to that Shit say (paraphrased) “I’m the only thing standing between the American Dream, and the anarchy and chaos of Democrat rule“ with his shifty weasel eye stare and pouty puckered asshole mouth.

I fantasize seeing a big rocket powered fist enter the screen from the right and impact that Orange face knocking him off his podium. Then what I feel like is a realistic possibility, is picturing him seated in the defendant’s chair at his trial. A striped suit and hand coughs would be a nice touch, but not expected.

It's very Nixonian and served him well at the time in those days, the only problem is all the fabricated horrors Trump is throwing at the wall are not on the minds of Americans right now, the virus and jobs are. Any adviser is likely telling him to stay on message about getting the economy back on track and touting any successes he may have had on the economic front, but he won't, he will be blustering on about conspiracies and fear mongering all the way up to the end. Frankly, it's a gift to Democrats who are just letting him have the floor with this shit.

I wake up in the morning smiling because I dreamed he was escorted out of the White House in handcuffs. Then i realize it was only a dream. Next step - check the phone for news that indicates he’s still in the land of the living.

@Huntn, you can have no idea how pleased I am that a former serving officer of the USN feels so passionately and strongly (as I know you do, form other threads in The Other Place) on this (loathsome and quite utterly repellent) subject.

It should be clear to anyone that Trump is now LARPing the presidency and has lost his 16 sided dice. It's like he just awoke from a 60 year coma and started blurting out accusations void of any reality or current information.

If anything positive can be seen from this it is he exposed a big percentage of the population that is proudly ignorant. But what do we do with them now?

If he's LARPing then I'd like a word with the gamemaster real soon now. And don't ya wonder sometimes how this show that we're all in ever morphed off a fanciful storyboard at some otherwise boring upper East Side cocktail party? I mean how did we arrive at a game where S.Bannon has anyone named Trump playing at being a populist... and will S.Miller have Trump trying on lederhosen and fake mustaches in his bedroom before it all wraps up? Seems like the rules of the game have long since got away from whoever launched it.

I've tried to think of a positive that would come from a Trump second term. The only thing I can think of is proof that are democracy is a farce. I mean it is anyway, but that would be undisputed truth if for no other reason than easily fact checked lies won over truth. Unfortunately that will be for historians to reveal. Until then I try to find comfort in the many rights, freedoms, and enjoyments we still have. But also I consider myself lucky to live in an area that is firmly liberal, not because we are right, but because I feel safe in public that I won't have to deal with an idealogical confrontation.

There is an interesting piece in today's Observer (Sunday paper of the Guardian, but independent of it, and the oldest extant Sunday newspaper in the world - they reported on the death of Mozart in 1791) of how the US has failed to persuade a singe state on the UNSC to support it re imposing fresh sanctions on Iran.

Irrespective of whatever merits the US case has, (and these are also questionable) the rejection of their position - even from, especially from, states once considered allies - was total, public and blunt, and much of this is down to the arrogant, abrasive, aggressive, rude and ignorant diplomatic stance of the US in recent years.

Looking back on that post, uncensored or un-****’d, I think I might feel better bleeping out my own profanities for certain words, not that the severity of those words are not justified, they are.

Just think of the feelings you’d have if you watched a wild man purposefully tear down 200 years of progress to enrich himself. I’m not advocating violence, but this kind of thing tends to bring about physical violence when people feel threatened enough and that cuts both ways. I hope sanity prevails along with an insistence on progress, and making the country I, you, we all live in, a better place to live for the vast majority.

  • Civil rights
  • Liberty (ie Group Liberty, not unlimited)
  • Equal rights
  • Equal opportunity
  • Equality under the law
  • Eliminate double standards
  • Clean Air and Water
  • Medical coverage for all
  • Worker Rights
  • Worker security, safety nets.
  • Free Education
  • Accountability in Government, elected officials.
  • Respect for established laws (change the bad ones).
  • Protecting the Environment.
  • Limit individual and corporate hoarding of wealth
  • WE>Me
  • etc, fill in the blank, I’m sure I missed some. :)
