But your friend is a cop, he witnessed the events of Jan. 6, that included a fellow police officer being murdered, and he still supports Trump?

Let’s face it, the (wannabe) party of law and order doesn’t care about cops who get killed fending on white protestors. They only support the thin blue line when it’s being crossed by minorities.

This is because white protesters are seen as, or are deemed to be, someone like "Us", whereas protesting minorities are very much "Them", and clearly identified as such by the darker tone of their skin.

Exactly. This is what I refer to as in group patriotism.
To me, real patriots are people who love and support their neighbors and their motivation is camaraderie not hate/xenophobia.
