I'm a 55 year old man who uses IG strictly for photography, when I browse I'm checking out other photographers (also 99.9% of who I follow) and checking out classic rock music clips. Yet, this is what they constantly add to my feed, young fake girls dancing. It's like they're not even trying to target their ads, but maybe the baby is a shredder, who knows. Owned by FB and just as clueless, it's like they want to be Tik Tok.

I get the same stuff. I only follow friends and celebrities. I don't follow any Instagram Thots (influencers), but they are always suggesting them in Reels. The only difference is mine are guys lol

I got rid of facebook and twitter. I have Instagram, SnapChat, and Tik Tok, but I'm rarely on Snap and Tik Tok. I would say IG gets most of my attention at the moment.

Sometimes I just want to get rid of all social media, but then I would miss the stuff my nieces and nephews send me on there. Other than that I am okay without social media.

I still use FB strictly for my political FB page but nothing personal. Isn't Tik Tok just more teenagers dancing in videos? I'm always open to new avenues for sharing photography but not sure that's a good medium for it.

People share all kinds of stuff on Tik Tok. It's not just teenagers. I see all ages on there. You can share your photography on there if you want.

Facebook will eventually die out. Kids aren't using facebook.

Okay, so you can share still images, not just videos? Appreciate the tips, I'm old and falling behind on this stuff lol.

Okay, so I signed up and the as soon as soon as I clicked the confirmation button the first thing it showed me was videos of half naked young girls dancing. I'm pretty sure I'm on a list somewhere now.

WSJ had a big article on this during their investigation of Facebook - how much this affects young girls growing up. As a big fat balding man, I won't understand this as well as those who try to look pretty (society doesn't expect me to look pretty). I do know I left Facebook years and years ago because I saw it dividing up family and becoming a repost farm for really offensive items.

Probably why my iPhone battery life is so good - I'm lucky if I use 15%+ of my iPhone's battery a day.

I'm getting the same type thing on recommended YouTube shorts, young ladies with the "talent" of lifting their shirt to reveal a bikini top.

Never mind the fact that my deep dive to find this type of content consists of just opening YouTube, but can anybody tell me what kind of benefit this type of content provides? Is it the first step, or probably only step, to becoming a popular and respected influencer?

Is this what social media is attempting to replace fake news with? I wouldn't doubt it. "Hey Mark, you know what else keeps eyeballs on sites?"

Been seeing the same thing - YouTube Shorts - a lot of those are basically soft porn. The views on some of those - millions. Can only imagine the $ that makes.

I get similar videos on my FB newsfeed. Usually some young girl dancing as you noted. Listed as Reels also.

Nope. My daughter only has one to keep up with her former teachers and some of our friends.

And too many people are trying to use "Groups" when they really need a bulletin board like this. So what I am seeing is new people find a Hatfield McCoy Trails page and ask the same questions over and over again because there is no way to drill down to a specific topic like lodging, where you can see all the lodging posts. Then after a while, people get tired of answering the same questions over and over and stop and the page dies.

I thought I would miss it (Facebook), but I don't. People who are close to me already have my phone # and can contact me there.

Dunno I got 1 rec with sexual comment, and it's a video on Benny Hill Show ("Most awful moments in TV") out of the first 100 video recs on YouTube.

I'm not touching IG, the only people I know who are really into it are really shallow and all they do is show off their paid glamour shots there. It's a game I'm not into.

I rarely use Instagram. Last month when I went for my pedicure, the salon manager suggested following them on Instagram cause they were running a contest. So I pulled out my phone and followed them. And I won a pedicure.
