It's not just in the Capitol in DC where threats ring out in the halls

A public hearing in Sacramento, California today featured threats and near threats by some female speakers.

What are they angry about? The first one is against vaccinating everybody? Or maybe she is super for it and concerned that they cannot vaccinate everybody?

In California these days per a friend who lives there, every public meeting now where there is at least one right winger present is about whatever it is about -- covid restrictions or budget allocations or the granting or denying of a move to put a referendum on the ballot-- plus a gratuitous remark consisting of a reminder, often bordering on threat, about the existence of the Second Amendment and about how many people exercise it. The country has become a bin full of lunatics tilting at windmills over the past dozen or so years.

The white anger has corresponded directly with the attention given to systemic racism in America. As long as they could deny it and keep it going, they were fine. Now that it’s a part of the public consciousness, they can no longer sit back and pretend the status quo is “fair” for people other than whites. So they are lashing out. They absolutely do not want to give up their unearned privileges.

I have to keep telling myself that this at this level doesn’t happen in a country with a healthy middle class and unfortunately the right is still full of a bunch of rubes that would rather punch it out with scapegoats then support legislation that would help them out.
