Apparently the former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo plans to hold a news conference with the RSC (the largest GOP caucus of the House) on April 21, promising "a major announcement" with respect to Iran.

Pompeo recently joined Fox News as a contributor and has already made public comments highlighting differences between the Trump and Biden administrations on matters related to the former's abandonment of the JCPOA.

That's one thing but now to promise a "major announcement" in a "news conference" along with members of the House's largest partisan caucus may well put him and his forthcoming remarks, whatever they may be, into a riskier landscape, i.e., "interference with foreign policy of the US government." These guys don't even bother hiding intent to run a shadow government, they just get out there and flaunt it.

Of course whenever another former SoS, John Kerry, opened his mouth about anything while Trump was President, the entire GOP castigated his remarks as interference. But that was different... somehow.

Trump's first Secretary of State took the proper measure of him by saying “He’s a f---ing moron.”

Yeah Tillerson surely called Trump that but who knew it would apply as well to Trump's pick to replace Tillerson. Ugh, Pompeo was bad enough hanging out as CIA director and spending more time schmoozing with Trump in the White House than minding the store out at Langley.

Anyway neither Trump nor Pompeo has bothered to acknowledge they're both just in op-ed territory now. The media should remind them (and news consumers) by not reporting on their remarks as if insight into government policy in the making.
