Interesting article in the guardian

Possible? some easy to remember and catchy 3 word slogans and a decent budget seems like all one needs to become president of the US these days.
I follow (quietly) a few QAnon telegram channels, and I've noticed two things:
1. They are insane. Like, insane insane. Lost touch with reality. Trump changing faces with Biden, things like that.
2. I've seen Pompeo's name floating A LOT recently. Weird as it seems, as much as Trump's name.

None of that surprises me. I've seen claims that Trump is actually still in charge of the country as ShadowPresident. Apparently they believe that the coup on the 6th was actually successful and that they indeed did catch and arrest all members of congress, but decided to not kill them and released them on the condition that Trump remains in charge as part of the ShadowGovernment. Of course none of this was covered in the media because it would have led to an all out civil war across the country.

So now Trump is the deep state?

Should we be wondering what it is like for a child in the households of Q-Anon believers?

Probably we should be wondering what it was like the households of those believers when they were children. Or how does one arrive at a set of beliefs so at odds with the real world anyway? Is it just a desire for drama and a feeling of being special? When does that take over a personality and then a person's behavior in the world at large?

I wonder if a celebrity culture as manifest, not to say oppressive, as we have in the USA at least these days -- look at all the whining about people losing some of their own Twitter followers when Trump was booted off that platform!-- leaves tens of millions of Americans with a hole in their psyche that can just never be filled in reality.

We've spent over half a century being told we will be special if we buy this car or that beer or go to that school or land that job. So we do all that and still it's the people we see on TV, movies, popular culture websites and social media platforms that are special... not us.

So that (as meant to do) instills in us deep anxiety about what else we should do or buy next in order to become special. It's like spending a lifetime plowing past being alive because someone said we needed to be special and then showed us mostly unattainable examples.

So maybe, across all kinds of other divisions in American culture, there is a massive vulnerability to ending up feeling special if singled out by a Pied Piper like Trump a few weeks ago: urging his loyal fans of four years and more to go down and fight for the country he said wouldn't even exist any more if they were "weak". If they would be strong and go, everyone would see they were not weak and so they would finally be special for having "saved" the country with their erstwhile leader?

Said leader, of course, being Trump, merely stayed behind in a pavilion with family and friends and large screen TVs to watch "the show"...

No wonder they're falling back now to deeper conspiracy theories, rejecting what they see as impossibilities: that it was all just a show and that their leader is a has-been.

Biden may have his work cut out for him trying to get us to buy into the truth that we all do have a whole lot in common with each other as human beings living in the USA. Diane Feinstein said "the dogma is strong in you" to Amy Barrett once upon a time in a hearing for her appointment to the federal bench. Well after four years of Trump ignoring more than half the population of the country and talking to his rally base as if it were all of America, the catechism Trump instilled in his followers is still strong in them --if perhaps not so much for him personally any more-- and the feeling of revulsion towards them is still strong in the rest of us, no matter what goes on in Washington DC.

So how do we welcome a child of Q-Anon parents back to the USA?

Has pompous Pompeo been replaced yet?

Daniel Bennett Smith is acting Secretary of State as of January 20, 2021.

Antony Blinken is Biden's nominee for Secretary of State, pending his confirmation by the Senate.

As far as Europe is concerned, Pompeo was already apparently replaced by a blank piece of cardboard before Trump's term ended, since several countries declined to meet with ol' Mike as he planned his farewell tour.

On the celebrity worship, pro athletes in this case.
