A new company is preparing to release an app called Rewind which will allow you to record everything that happens on your Mac.
They tell us the info would be entirely local, claiming a data compression rate of 3750x, which would, in theory, make it practical. They say that you have full control over what gets recorded, including the ability to start and stop recording and block specific apps from being recorded.
The app is said to make use of every part of the SoC – presumably the neural engine interpets activity and converts it into a summary, hopefully encrypted. But, of course, since the app can read the summary, it is de facto accessible to you and to anyone who can convince the app to tell them what is in there.
Kind of reminds me of a propane torch: highly useful but also dangerous. Would you even want to put this kind of thing on your machine?
