since it is Texas and he did not shoot anyone its all ok
Why did he tackle the guy? He was just hanging out peacefully. That’s how Texas law sees it:

Once under arrest, police took inventory of what he carried. Besides the rifle and Bible, they also found 120 rounds of ammunition and a handgun. However, since Herrera didn't actually shoot anyone, he did not commit a felony offense under Texas law.

Herrera was charged with a misdemeanor for the Galleria incident. Then, on March 18, he showed up at the Houston FBI headquarters asking to meet with the director of the agency. In that incident, he had a gun in the car. However, because no shots were fired and he didn't point the weapon at anyone, he was again just charged with a misdemeanor.

So, this guy is still out there? He can still buy more assault weapons?

I wonder why he went to meet the FBI director and why a gun in the car is a problem that he again got charged with a misdemeanor for.

How crazy have our gun laws gotten that you can hang out with assault weapons near hundreds of kids or outside government buildings and nothing can be done legally to stop you until after you pull the trigger? But you can’t peacefully carry pieces of paper with words on them near the people in the Supreme Court who helped lead us to this reality.

something that is always forgotten
Which is why “red flag” laws aren’t that effective in my opinion.

When people get angry, they reach for whatever is nearby. Drivers can get road rage and use the car to tailgate or bump other drivers. Orange-colored Presidents get mad during dinner and the place settings end up smashing against the wall. So there’s nothing surprising about our gun violence problem when you consider we have more guns than people in America.

We cannot fundamentally change human nature and prevent all anger. We CAN massively restrict guns nationwide to reduce the chance that somebody who gets angry has a weapon of war nearby.

So he's got sentenced to one year for the mall incident. Which is a misdemeanor. So he can still carry once he serves his sentence? The 2nd incident (with the FBI) is also a misdemeanor. So he still probably can carry. G-d bless Texas. :brickwall:
