When Anthony Novak set up a Facebook thingie as a parody of the Parma Ohio PD, the fine men (and women) in blue got very upset, arresting Mr Novak on charges of felony interference with police.

Naturally, a jury acquitted Mr Novak, but he was not satisfied with merely being let off the hook, filing a suit against PPD for, in part, the unwanted notoriety. But the suit was tossed aside – on grounds of "qualified immunity", the principle that police work is so important that officers cannot be prosecuted or sued for improper behavior in the line of duty.

The case (that is, its dismissal) has been appealed to the Supreme Court, and a friend of the court brief has has been filed by The Onion, an opus in blending seriousness with satire.
