Imagine if he put the same amount of effort into fighting COVID as he did people who have mocked him.

From BusinessInsider
President Donald Trump asked advisors and lawyers to look into how "Saturday Night Live" and other late-night shows could be punished after they mocked him, The Daily Beast's Asawin Suebsaeng and Adam Rawnsley reported on Tuesday.

Two sources told the outlet that Trump had asked aides in 2019 to look at what the Federal Communications Commission, US courts, and the Department of Justice could do about "SNL" and other shows, like "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

Not even remotely surprised. What's interesting is that the dummy thought that the equal time rule could be invoked.

As the article notes:

...In any case, Trump seems to have confused the FCC rules he was invoking in fury, explains Paul Matzko, a scholar on technology policy at the Cato Institute.

The “equal time” rule refers to a specific FCC that wouldn’t apply to SNL. “Equal time meant that if a radio or TV station offered time to one political candidate they had to offer comparable time on the same terms to an opposing candidate,” later broadened to “not only to candidates themselves and their campaigns directly but any kind of allied group,” says Matzko.

Instead, Matzko says Trump is likely confusing the equal time rule with the “fairness doctrine,” a practice which demanded that broadcasters provide “fair and balanced” coverage of controversial issues of public importance. The FCC, however, stopped enforcing the doctrine in 1987 and formally revoked it in 2011.

It's also worth noting that Trump tried to get the DOJ involved in the election and tried to push the “ItalyGate” conspiracy—an obvious load of trolling bullshit intended to make everyone who espouses it look fucking stupid. Italy has a satellite that can magically change votes? Sure, it was launched on the same shuttle mission as the Jewish Space Laser. I'm pretty sure Mark Kelly was the commander.

I'm still of the opinion that they all watched random mob movies right before that, which motivated the use of Italy.

Being a gangster was better than being president of the United States.
