Here’s an interesting question for you:

The way Russia is shelling everything left and right, if they win they will be inheriting a pile of rubble. As long as they don’t build missile bases on that land, it’s a pyrrhic victory they will deserve.

But what if they decide to pull out, as they ultimately did in Afghanistan? Who will pay to rebuild a devastated Ukraine? Can the world’s countries seize Russia’s already frozen assets? That’s probably not enough to do the job by itself. And we can’t look to World War II for a framework, because unlike the Axis powers, Russia will not be a defeated nation.

They might also consider the pile of rubble worth it, like an investment in the future - a warning to other “regions” in Russia’s “sphere of influence”. Don’t resist. Accept a puppet regime. You know what will happen otherwise.

Realistically the world’s countries will have to foot most of the bill. Rebuilding the Russian economy is probably better for future stability and peace than the alternative.

Fair? No.

I don’t see any help going to Russia until after a regime change.
