This is how you handle it.

Absolutely.

I think states should pass an ordinance, that allows private establishments/stores/groceries, to be able to post something like this:

Under Florida Statute 1.234 this store requires the use of a mask. Failure to comply without proper medical documentation, will result in your removal and arrest if you refuse to the leave the premises.

Period. An employee asks you to wear one or leave, you do neither, immediate police call. Go to __fucking__ jail.

I my weekly-ish grocery run today, about 95%, one hillbilly woman came in with her husband, he actually LEFT and went a got a mask, and she said out loud, "I know I'm supposed to, but I'm not".

Interestingly, I saw him coming out to their truck with the cart when I was also leaving, it looks like maybe she was already in the car, so the staff may have said, GTFO.

oh god.. the bundy.. who remembers that drama? didn't someone end up dead? that whole event was a disaster. govt' totally caved in. set a bad precedent.
Plus they totally besmirched the good name of the Reverend Al Bundy, who simply wanted a lower beer tax.

This is a sickness in modern America that is far more widespread than the coronavirus. The disease is “It’s all about me and screw everyone else. It’s 100% about my rights, and 0% about my responsibilities.”

Unfortunately, I see us curing coronavirus way before I see curing this disease.

This.

I want to hear about our responsibilities to our fellow humans. I want to do more FOR our fellow humans. I want politicians who are actually servants to these beliefs and practices.

Illinois does. At least out here around Chicago they do. Stores have signs posted citing ordinance and requirement to wear a mask in order to enter premises. I’ve seen someone be asked to leave at Binny’s. She was very polite. It sounds like she didn’t realize she forgot her mask.

It’s not a disease. It’s the expected outcome of the American culture. We have been pushing individualism of unhealthy levels for decades. We have thought Americans that they should consume, aim higher, earn more, be thiner, go to better schools, drive better cars and above all to compete with each other. Greed is good, remember? Every child is “special.” We glorify and celebrity warship billionaires. This isn’t to say that individualism is bad, but it should be balanced with a sense of moral obligation and responsibility to the society that enables you to do you. If you suggest that the super rich should pay more, that healthcare is a human right, that no one should be hungry in a country that generates 17 trillion dollar economy — you’re a communist.

Gun violence is another example. There is this misconception that Europeans don’t own firearms. They do. In some countries 1 in 3 individuals have guns, but they don’t have anything close to the level of violence we have. I believe that’s because the very fabric of our society is falling apart. People are disconnected. There is no empathy. There is no community. This excessive individualism is destructive. Just what I think, anyway.

...this excessive individualism is destructive...

yes. this.

america maybe was founded largely on the basis of escaping religious intolerance so that those very escapees to the new world could own their own inability to tolerate other religions.

the majority of colonies were what i call Exclusive Religious Theme Parks.

this gives background to State's rights being preeminent and subservient to later defined Federal level granted limitations.

the vastness of north america demanded religious freedom to be conjoithined at the e-pluribus hip with a more pragmatic rough hewn individualism. don't tread on me. give me freedom or give me death.

this gave america a special chance. different from any other nation except the two other continental stretching new lands of canada and australia.

i think that the eventual differences between America, Australia, and Canada come down to America fought a successful war of independence against Britain. canada and australia never found it useful or necessary to redefine until much later their own national consciences.

for me, america's breaking off at an early point the binding ties of the old world forced it to go its own way.

this caused america and americans to harbour a stubborn self identify based on a misperception of what freedom means.
the words like freedom and liberty became the short cut by which americans identify themselves.

fast forward to now:

when States (50! of them) each have ultimate power (and r governors won't enforce public health rules such as mandating masks)

when armed militias roam the corridors of state capitals (and plots to kidnap governors are defended as Citizen Arrests by elected County Sheriffs)

where the majority vote is actually not important (and electors can be chosen based on rules other than majority popular vote)

america is pre-modern country with antiquated governing mechanisms unlikely able to overcome 21st century challenges to climate change, pandemics, (need to participate as an equal in) global alliances, and a failure to understand that socialised health care is human right.

where all other modern, advanced countries live by and practice something like "your right to freedom stops where it impacts the greater more basic societal good" americans are left to try to meddle their way out of herd mentality issues. GMAFB.

after trump, none of america's past most loyal and traditional allies are thinking that america can be depended on again.
30% of america which is trump's true base has changed the course of america and our world.
at least for the lifetime of all of us.

kris and janis and gordon and willie's words should be ringing an alarm bell:
Freedoms just another word for nothing left to lose.

many americans protect their freedom only to lose their souls.

My brother has had some issues at the store due to masks, and had a bad review on TripAdvisor because one of the store employees asked a customer to put on a mask. I still don’t understand why it’s such a big deal.
