Ugh, never be the first to upgrade to a new OS especially one that will handle two different chip architectures. However, to be fair about this hash reporting. This is not new. We run this at the network level at work. I can tell who goes to what sites, if I wanted to (it amazes me that people visit pornhub at work btw).

It's garbage that Apple transmitted that kind of data unencrypted and didn't have a better policy in place for handling server loads. The sluggish behavior is another one. It means you can effectively DDOS users by DDOSing the server that performs server side authentication of non-Apple user applications.
We have known for many years that vulnerabilities can arise from seemingly mundane stuff.

This kind of nonsense isn't unique to Apple, but it's still nonsense behavior.
On a related note, I may have mentioned my preference for Debian over Ubuntu in spite of sometimes being lazy when it comes to VMs.

My Mac I'm typing this on is too old to run Big Sur. I run Linux Mint on it and it runs very well.
I'm going back to Windows 98!

According to the article which has been updated, it sounds like Apple has taken steps to address things, and will do more going forward. Apple is better on privacy than most companies, but it’s good that we have people with the technical expertise to examine these things and figure out when there is a security hole. One thing I learned from reading this: iMessage is end-to-end encrypted. iCloud backups don’t appear to be. So if you backup your iMessages to iCloud, so much for the encryption on them...

imma think all the cats are outta the bag anyway. It's an illusion we're still managing our tech. I mean you can now buy the dog one in this video, for only $75k (if you agree to use it only for "beneficial purposes" ) but who's to say it will obey your every command versus making some up as it goes like a regular dog does.
