Trump fires head of election cybersecurity who debunked conspiracy theories

CISA Director Christopher Krebs had recently butted heads with the White House over his agency's Rumor Control blog, which rebuts false claims of election fraud and hacking.

Trump tweeted Tuesday night that Krebs had put out a statement concerning the election that was "highly inaccurate," apparently a reference to a joint statement Thursday from CISA, the Election Assistance Commission and groups that represent the chief election officers in every state. The statement read, in part, "There is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised."

Trump has said repeatedly that the election was rigged, even though no evidence has substantiated the claim and numerous state and federal agencies have said the election was legitimate.

This, though, is one more reason to worry. Trump is looking for someone to “prove” his crazy story that the election was rigged.

It’s another desperation sign. If he can place some lackey who will agree with him, he could claim that as “evidence” in an attempt to throw out the election results. And with all other avenues closing to him, that might mean a military solution.

Well he hasn't yet exhausted his other desperation tactics, like requesting recounts. He finally decided to go for it in Wisconsin, paid $3 million to get two (Democratic) counties recounted. They start tomorrow and must finish by December 1st. Gives him time to commit other mischief unless his GOP babysitters finally read the tea leaves from purple district constituents and call a halt to it all somehow.

From an electoral perspective, (and striving - with increasing difficulty - to be impartial and objective), I am at a complete loss to understand why recounts have been sought in counties, or regions, where the Democrats have an overwhelming majority, and where nothing on earth will overturn the election result.

Unless, of course, it is to cause trouble, drag heels, deny reality, frustrate, knee-cap and hobble the transition; really, this is classic bad faith, and extraordinarily irresponsible.

It is to drag heels. Because as long as he’s still in the running and hasn’t conceded, he can still fleece look for donations from his followers. It’s still about the coin for 45.

And the attention from media, which Trump enjoys. He also relishes annoying the Biden transition team.

Finally, these moves buy Trump more time to decide about any pardons: there are likely people now or formerly on his WH staff (or who worked on either of his campaigns) looking for those. Trump may have left the Mueller Report in the rear view except for its nuisance value to him when he can't think of anything else to complain about, but some parties to Trump's 2016 campaign may realize that shoes can yet drop off that report at the federal level and affect more than just Trump after 45 leaves office.

I'm hoping to see a headline like this.

After Recount Nobody Asked For, Utah Announces Flip To Biden

Just make it look legit enough for Trump to read and blow one of his few remaining gaskets.
