Whenever someone dies suddenly - up and about living life and then gone in a sudden - it makes you think a little. On the senate floor yesterday casting votes and hosting a friend, then hours later the news is reporting her death and her colleagues are paying tribute.

Newsom achieved quite the virtue signaling trifecta with his appointment. Woman. Black. Lesbian. Bravo, sir! Among her career qualifications he forgot to mention she was a consultant for Uber around the time they successfully blocked the reclassification of drivers from contractors to employees. That’s like if a Republican governor in a red state appointed somebody with the impressive qualifications of womanizer, domestic abuser, extortionist, money launderer, cross burner, and little league coach but conveniently forgot to mention they once voted for a Democrat.

Yeah, I know the media is trying to make that a big deal. She lived in CA, moved to Maryland, and now will move back. I’m sure there are far more situations where somebody runs for office who never lived in the area until recently.

It’s rumored that she doesn’t plan to run when there is an election. Further connected to that is the belief Newsom did it so it wouldn’t appear he’s putting his thumb on the scale of a local favorite to win an election and possibly more importantly this gives him a direct line to the DC super PAC she heads.

I’m not denying that. He’s no saint free from the influence of money and special interests, most notably running for election on some form of state medicare for all and then torpedoing it soon after winning. Again, follow the money.
