China says it WILL shoot Pelosi's plane down IF she travels to Taiwan under US fighter escort

So we’ve agreed nothing has changed. So the point in stirring up further animosity was…what?

Why is the onus on China to ignore and not the US to not provoke?

the onus? I suggested it was their option and didn't suggest it was any sort of obligation......they've chosen a different option, so it seems they feel there's a decided advantage for them to make the response they've made.....and certainly they've made Biden look a bit clumsy and ineffective.

And according to your own posts, the US restated it's unchanged position. That hardly sounds like a provocation.

Plus according to press reports, the administration actually tried to convince her not to go to Taiwan on this trip....Nancy Pelosi may be an elected official, and you may not like her views, but she's not the voice of "the US".

This really isn't a case of "the US" provoking anything, rather it's the action a private citizen....so what do you want? A more authoritarian restriction on US citizens stating their views when they disagree with the government's policies? Somehow I doubt you really want that.

The US sent a carrier group to accompany Pelosi. THAT is the provocation with Pelosi as the distraction for the masses. She’s also 3rd in line to the Presidency, that’s a massive context to consider from the eyes of the international community (and by that I mean more than just the Five Eyes group we pretend are the “the world”).

China’s not very innocent when it comes to provocative actions in the South China Sea.

Chinese leaders think they can do whatever they want without pushback. Now that the US is starting to push back, they act persecuted. Cry me a river.

And the way they act when anybody mentions the Uyghurs? They are going almost full Nazi with the treatment of them, but again, if anybody says anything about it, the truth-teller is the one “provoking” China.

Lol might want to look a little closer at the Uyghur story, and history. Hint: we trained them as a “moderate rebel” force just like the mujaheen. Operation Timber Sycamore is an apt analogy.

I think I’m done here though, I can’t possibly unpack the “common knowledge”. Propaganda clearly works because Americans clearly have no understanding of what we do around the world. Enjoy WWIII everyone, should be here by 2032 as the empire lashes out in its death throes.

yes after a routine port call, they're returning back to where they're routinely deployed.....now the expected Chinese view would be that they routinely object to where the carrier group has been routinely deployed in the South China Sea, but that's an ongoing issue for a number of years now, and nothing to do with Pelosi's visit (which hadn't even been confirmed at the time the article was written)

Per your link, the Chinese response to this redeployment to the South China Sea didn't mention Pelosi visit or even Taiwan.

Your link simply doesn't support your claim that the deployment has anything to do with being "sent to accompany Pelosi'.

I think that’s the point. Nothing has changed anywhere. And since nothing has changed, why should we discontinue normal diplomatic relations? Xi knows there is an official relationship between ROC and US. That has never changed. So why now is he having hissy fits over it?

Just putting this out there as a possibility, "Dear citizens, I would like to address your economic concerns. You see....hold up. What's that off in the distance? It sounds like war. I need to go check that out and then I'll be right back with the economics thing. Promise."

Does anybody know how long Xi’s yacht is? I’m writing a thesis that concludes that once a world leader’s yacht reaches a certain length the next step is to conquer another country based on ethnic humans. They’re human. He’s human. Clearly they want to be governed by him based on their shared human ethnicity. Humans have a long history of being ruled by humans. Get on board with this shit.

Guess the CCP missed it's opportunity to shoot Speaker Pelosi out of the air as a CCP mouthpiece threatened

Ms. Pelosi, who headed to South Korea late Wednesday afternoon, reaffirmed U.S. support, praised Taiwan’s handling of the Covid pandemic and met with human rights leaders. At every moment she was also conveying an unmistakable message: Beijing can isolate Taiwan, but it cannot stop American leaders from traveling there.
