Well, here we go with this chucklehead again. It’ll be 2022 heading into 2023, and it’ll start all over again, even though it never really ended anyways. Can the country stand another few years of this circus clown? A republican controlled house while the DOJ has a criminal investigation into Trump, who will now be a candidate again…

The GOP needs to get it together and make sure he isn’t the nominee. They don’t need to plot anything underhanded against him, all they need is to tell the truth. Which is admittedly unlikely, but it’s a simple thing to do nonetheless.

I hate to say it, because I think he's more politically concerning, and certainly more capable - but if I had to pick Trump vs. DeSantis, as the nominee, and fuck me, but even actually in the White House?

*sigh*

I'd take DeSantis (the wife too, we had this discussion again this morning)

He's at least a politician, appropriately handles the job of being a publicly elected official. Sure many of this policies are toxic, but he attempts to engages government like a professional (even if he's a bit of a petty ass wipe). I'll fight policy with DeSantis in place, at least there's a defined front for the battle.

Trump?

He's a goddam goon. He knows nothing about policy, how to delegate, business, world politics, he supports nothing unless it's "trump is great", he's a psychotic, brain dead, pervy old coot. The worst part is his support seems to be [GQP] loons that have elevated him into some kind of god-like status, some kind of clown show second coming. We can't have that in our politics.

Perhaps Liz Cheney will have an announcement in the future (outside of Jan6th committee matters).

I can see it happening.

Well if you believe drug smugglers should be shot after only a 2 hour "trial" and the bullet sent to their families, then TFG is your man. I hate seeing folks (especially teens) dying from fentanyl & other drugs as much as anyone, but this sounds a tad extreme.

The infighting will be good for the Democratic party but at least we have a sense of who is running on their side, I have a feeling Biden won't run for a second term. Have we not had it with grandpas who are barely able to walk anymore? Don't get me wrong, I wish everyone a nice full life but once they're old enough for the home they're no longer capable of running a country.

Desantis is fine, so long as you're straight and white.

I was originally thinking if she ran as an independent she'd easily take enough votes away from Trump to keep him from winning...but then she might also take enough votes away from Democrats so that it may be a total wash in deciding the election. Doesn't help that Democrats have been fawning all over W Bush era Republicans like nothing of note took place during his administration.

Oh don't get me wrong, we want neither, this was purely a Shitty Choice A vs. Shitty Choice B hypothetical. I kind of threw up in my mouth even writing that ... 😬

Last week she was interviewed by Judy Woodruff on the PBS News Hour, and was asked if she'd be running for President. She was pretty coy and evaded answering the question. As she was on the followup question if she'd run as a Republican or Independent.

I think she will. There are a handful on interesting possibilities/dynamics that could be in play when she does. Especially if Biden steps aside (which I think he should). :)

I think running as a Republican would be too much of a primary risk and she might have come to the same conclusion that many have that the old Republican party she and others pine for is long dead. There's too much spreading cancer.

I'm all for some younger options in 2024.

I can't even imagine another Biden v. Trump campaign in '24, Biden will be ~81, Dummy will be ~78

Love me some Joe, I think even at 79 he's done more than the orange Nitwit could've done at ANY age, but I think we need to remove age related concerns from this position (it's already difficult enough).

Unfortunately I don't see anyone stepping on the Dem side. If Biden steps away, VP Kamala Harris easily gets front-runner status on the Dem side. But who else would dare run? Buttigieg? I fear a race lead by a Black woman and a gay man. Not in these extremist times.

Yeah, unfortunately, I think you're absolutely right on.

Holy shit, there'd be two votes on this end for a Buttigieg / Harris ticket :D

I don't know. Accounting for money is not his strong point.
yes but it all becomes contributions. it all has to be logged and declared. remember the money that went to the porn stars? all those begging letters become election contributions and cant be used for legal fees and whatever he spends his money on.

I wouldn't mind seeing Buttiegieg make a presidential run again. I like Harris, but the press has been awful to her so I doubt she has the power to pull in enough votes. At least at this point. Perhaps Stacey Abrams could pull is off as VP.
