yes Elon’s latest thing has to been to remove headlines from link previews on his own site … I guess as a way to discourage legacy media from posting? You know the only people keeping his lights on.

Weirdly ads still show headlines, funny that. Also Elon’s latest brainwave is to remove all the interaction buttons/symbols (likes, retweets, etc …) from feed scrolls so people don’t see them unless they click on the post. To reduce visual clutter of course, not to make it harder to see that one of Elon’s posts has been ratio-ed to oblivion. Also social media thrives on interaction, so putting more friction on that is the opposite of how you make money (while actually probably healthier for people in the long run, Elon removed the friction that was specifically about making interaction healthier so it’s clearly not about that).

Just for anyone with lingering doubts that the Twitter Files weren’t full of shit. And of course Trump administration.

In addition to horrifying pictures and video, Twitter is currently drowning in disinformation, monetized by blue checks. This is also happening on other platforms. Please be careful out there! Especially when it comes to violent, grisly images/video, some things are hard to unsee.
