I look at these folks the same way they look at some minority petty criminal.

Was reminded recently of when Obama said rural Americans cling to their guns and religion. It was somewhat taken out of context but even in context it isn’t much better. In almost a Sanders or Trump type way he was saying both parties let them down and with no faith in either party on economic issues they instead vote based on their social values. Clearly Republicans have taken advantage of this as they repeatedly get voted into office in some regions and repeatedly fail on economic improvements, and I’m not sure if this happens locally, but from outside those areas it appears they never get called to task on that. Although, you could say the existance of MAGA is being called to task.

Not really, though. Every person on the payroll costs the company money other than just wages. If you can get the job done with fewer people, it will simply cost you less, any way you look at it. That has been standard business for just about ever.

Are they outliers used to promote a story or is there a significant number of them to move the needle. I don't know and neither does anyone else.

But what I do know is these owners will start investing more heavily in technology and as more do this, the prices of this tech will come down, so more will invest in it. Guess who is at the end of the line? The workers.

So who care's if a Big Mac costs a dollar more. Well probably people who eat a lot of meals at McDonald's, which tend to be lower income. So while large operators make a lot of money, the average McDonald's produces $140-160K. A lot of money if you own ten, but not really a lot if you own one. One thing is almost as certain as death and taxes and that is if prices go up, people will buy less. A BigMac is a fungible good, lots of easy substitutes like packing a ham sandwich for lunch. So prices go up, sales go down creating a squeeze.

What if the execs left the prices alone and took home ten million dollar bonuses instead of twenty five million dollar bonuses? Or is that forbidden in the rules of capitalism? Is the rule written in stone than the consumer and the worker are always reamed first?

Also, stop me if you’ve heard this before… how about a fair tax code? It hasn’t been tried, maybe it will work. Lots of systems of fairness seem to work pretty well in practice.

What if 40 people were employed at $20/hr and the CEO earned M$30 instead of M$40. That’s where the real problem lies, the folks at the top who are, essentially, hoarding money, while the people at the bottom are working two $8/hr jobs to make ends meet.
